Plastered on the weather news is the fifth storm of the season, Tropical Storm Edouard. Technically, I'm in the Gulf Coast region, so this storm does affect me. Strangely, though, I feel no sense of trepidation over this event. Should Edouard's boundaries reach out to my area, it would be my first experience with a tropical storm/hurricane. The adventurous side of me is eagerly waiting to see what Edouard will bring our way, while the practical side of me understands that this should be taken seriously, and I should begin to prepare for the effects of the storm. Perhaps this is why I have yet to really begin the process of battening down the hatches. I haven't even begun to secure the deck furniture or the trash bin that sit outside. My son's yard toys need to be gathered. I also need to locate my oil lamps in the storage shed. At least we have back-up lighting, non-perishable food and water, and rope to secure the outdoor items ready to go.
UPDATE: Since I typed this, I have, indeed, begun to prepare for the worst scenario. We are under warning for possible tornadoes, flash flooding, high winds, and heavy rain and I live a mile or less from a major reservoir/lake. Everything that could become a missile in high winds has been secured into the shed, my son and cats are packed and ready to go should the need to evacuate arise, and I have my important papers ready, as well. I just need to get myself ready. Here's hoping that the storm won't be too serious. Also, I noticed as I was clearing the yard that I heard no birds singing and the cicadas weren't chirping. The air was more quiet than usual - I wonder....

Pamela, I was catching up on your blog and noticed ... you sited my blog as a favorite! What a wonderful gift! I look forward to reading more about your life, your love of strawberries (one of natures perfect foods) and your coming battle with algebra.
Cheers!

Rita,
You're quite welcome! Adding a favorite blog list was easier than trying to get that YouTube issue sorted - which it is still not. I may have to try HTML format, as you mentioned having to do. A poster on IMDb.com mentioned that he has experienced past difficulty with Google-owned sites in regards to embedding videos. Once you figured out how to do HTML, what were the steps that you had to take to get the videos to work?
I'm glad you've enjoyed my entries, so far. In such an ordinary and largely uneventful life, keeping things interesting takes some work. You have no idea how often I'm thinking about what to write about next - it gives the brain some exercise. If you don't see anything over the next few days, my power may be out due to Tropical Storm Edouard. That should make for an interesting entry!
Slainte!
Pamela
Pamela,
In blogger, you have two tabs where you can create your post; Compose and HTML. I usually use Compose, but HTML isn't very different. If you choose that tab instead, sometimes you can post things that Compose will not allow.
That being said, some research has given me some insight. Many bloggers are having difficulty posting images and videos with Blogger, so it may be a software, rather than user, error.
For now, have you gone to YouTube and gotten clearance to post videos? I forget how exactly, but it's fairly user friendly.
Your life is NOT uneventful, and I find your posts thought-provoking, even poignant at times.
By the by, I had my final in Accounting tonight. Upon leaving, I shook the professor's hand and told him he did the impossible. I may even pull an honest B in the class.
Cheers,
Rita
Thanks Rita. I'll follow up on what you've suggested regarding YouTube.
To me, life seems uneventful, but perhaps I'm simply in need of more excitement than life is giving me at the moment (I tend to become bored easily). Sometimes, all I need is a vacation to reenergize me, but on the flip side, the new school year may be enough to get me out of this slump. I'm glad my entries give you food for thought, as that's always my aim.
I hope you get that B in Accounting. It took me three tries just to manage a D- for basic accounting!
Later!
Pamela
